Job description: Job Summary (Senior Sybase Database Administrator / Engineer)Hybrid – Dallas-Fort Worth, TX– Administer, support, and maintain Sybase ASE databases in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
– Perform database upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, replication setup, and high-availability (HA) configurations.
– Automate database operations such as backups, monitoring, and configuration using Unix Shell scripting and Python.
– Troubleshoot complex Sybase database issues and implement performance optimization solutions.
– Manage role-based access control (RBAC) and encryption to ensure secure database operations.
– Provide critical production support for Sybase database systems.
– Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver technical consulting and database solutions.
– Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
– Leverage strong hands-on experience in Sybase administration and Linux environments.
– Utilize strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
– Preferred: Apply software development knowledge and practices, with familiarity in languages/tools such as Java, J2EE, PowerBuilder, C/C++, SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, and MQ Series.
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; professional certifications are a plus.
