Snow White 90th Anniversary in 2027. More Classic Reissues of Disney / 20th Titles Possible?

2027 will mark the 90th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

As it got a 4K restoration not too long ago, Disney should take the opportunity to reissue this classic masterpiece in theaters for 1-2 weeks only.

Their release schedule is focused on huge brand tentpoles. But I do hope they have room to release it in theaters close to the milestone.

As of now, March, September or October of 2027 are the only open slots to possibly reissue the movie. They could partner with Fathom Entertainment if it is not a huge priority. Maybe they can attach the Silly Symphony, The Old Mill, which is the first time the multiplane camera got put to use.

2027 will also be the first official year after Bob Iger steps down as CEO. Alan Bergman should open up to the idea of a classic animated re-release which will be the first time we have seen this in theaters since the first digital restoration in 1993.

I hope this can kickstart a new revenue stream by reissuing more of these traditionally animated masterpieces to ignite a re-interest in 2D animation across the theatrical mainstream. Not to mention there are also several legacy 20th Century Fox films not much in circulation or licensed out to arthouse theaters for special events since 2019. Fox has several movies in the Disney vault that are worth getting restored from the Shirley Temple movies, the Marilyn Monroe movies, and many more that has been licensed to TCM for broadcast.

Cinderella also got a 4K restoration and they can release that in theaters too.

And after the live action remake flopped in theaters and opened to mixed-negative reviews, I wish this will be how they apologize to their audience and start honoring their classic library more.

What would you like to see Disney do for the Snow White 90th anniversary? And could we see more classic Disney / Fox titles released in theaters after Fathom reissued The Sound of Music? (This was the first Fox title officially licensed since the acquisition).
