As the first article of this series of strain reviews, I want to provide a bit of information about me, so readers can better understand my point of view and perspective.
I am a dad of 2 toddlers and have a beautiful wife. I work full-time in membership and communication management, and have a small media services side-business (photography, videography, graphic design, etc.) I am a light user of cannabis (about 3–5 sessions per week), and have several different reasons for when I want to get high.
I plan on trying new strains for the next year and publishing a new review every week. I am writing these reviews to help beginner or occasional users understand the possible effects of different strains and share my opinion and final thoughts on each. Now, here’s my first review…
Sour Dream, Hybrid | THC 18%, CBD <1%
I wanted a strain that I could use during the day, and still be able to go about my daily tasks: finish some chores around the house, reply to a few emails, etc. After a bit of research and based on what was in stock at my local dispensary, I ended up getting Sour Blue Dream (aka Sour Dream) in a disposable pen by Sauce Essentials. From Leafly, “Sour Dream is the energetic daughter of a Blue Dream and Sour Diesel […] featuring a strong, sour, fuel-like aroma. It is extremely uplifting and fun.” This is exactly what I was looking for.
Smell and Taste
Hitting the pen was effortless and smooth. Sauce did a great job designing it. The taste is fruity and sweet with a very light sour finish on the exhale. The smell of the vapor was faint, but there were hints of sweet and fruity, specifically blueberry.
Experience & Effects
The effects didn’t set in until about 4–5 minutes after using, but once it hit, I felt it for the next 3 hours. It gave me the perfect euphoric head high and relieved all signs of anxiety or stress that I had. I felt happy, and creative. Although calming, I still had plenty of energy to complete tasks and focus. The body high was very, very slight. I felt light, and energetic, and the high gave my a small tingling sensation in my hands and chest.
About 20 minutes in, I decided to put up some Halloween decorations and finally set up our family’s 12ft skeleton in the front yard. The skeleton isn’t extremely difficult to set up, but it is very large and took me about 30 minutes. During the task, I was laser-focused and didn’t stress when I couldn’t attach a piece properly or understand the included instructions. I was very content during the whole process, and even had a laughing spell when I tried to put the skull on backwards.
Over the next three hours, the high slowly faded away and I was almost completely sober. There were absolutely no post-high effects!

Final Notes
Sour Dream turned out to be a great introduction to this review series because it perfectly matched what I was looking for: something light, uplifting, and functional. As a busy professional, I appreciated that it gave me a clear, creative head high without putting me to sleep or leaving me foggy afterward. The lack of munchies and the smooth comedown made it even more beginner-friendly. Overall, I’d recommend Sour Dream to anyone who wants a positive, daytime strain that can boost mood and focus while still letting you stay productive and present.
