The STD-home test is a very reliable STD test appropriate for both men and women. The analysis performed on the sample is the same as currently used by medical professionals and hospitals. In 2008 the methodology was even awarded with the Amsterdam Inventor Award.

STD-home test

How does it work?

The incubation period of a disease is the time that elapses between infection and the first clinical signs of disease. You should therefore consider the incubation period before performing the test. The incubation period for Chlamydia is 1-2 weeks, 2-5 days for Gonorrhea, and 1-4 weeks for Trichomoniasis. For complete instructions click here.

After the incubation period, you can order the test via this site. After a few days you will receive the STD test in an unrecognizable envelope. After you have taken a urine (men and women) or vaginal sample (women) as described in the manual, the sample can be sent to our laboratory using the included return package. Once we have received and analyzed your sample, you will be able to request your test results using the unique personal code supplied with the test. In case of a positive test result we strongly recommend you to contact your general practitioner (“GP”).

How is this test different from other STD tests?

Unfortunately, there are other STD tests available on the market where the results are not determined by a professional laboratory. These tests have been available for a long time and do not meet the new and improved requirements anymore. Research into these tests has shown that their reliability lies below 30%. Thus, these tests offer a false sense of security and are more of a gamble than a reliable result.
This web shop does not sell these low-quality tests. The Microbiome home test is reliable because the sample that is taken (vaginal swab for women, urine for men) is analyzed by an accredited laboratory. The test results of the Microbiome STD-home test is nearly 100%.

Since the start of this web shop, the focus was made on reliable and affordable home tests. One of the criteria we use is that the tests we sell are clinically proven and have a reliability of higher than 95%. All tests sold on this website (such as pregnancy, ovulation, allergies, coeliac disease, candida, menopause) fulfill this requirement.

Unfortunately, there are tests on the market (by websites such as testsoa.nl and soacheck.nl) which are not allowed in the Netherlands and Belgium. Save yourself time, effort and disappointment and do not buy these so-called STD tests. These tests are not allowed for sale because they are untrustworthy and not reliable.

Outcome, treatment and partner warning

If you test positive, please contact your GP. He or she will prescribe an antibiotic. After treatment, you may be re-infected because the body does not build immunity.

If you have an STD with symptoms, it is recommended that all sexual partners in the last 4-6 weeks (counting from the time the symptoms started) be informed and examined.

If you have an STD without symptoms, than it is recommended to inform all sexual partners from the last six months to do an STD test.

Prevention

Using a condom protects against the transmission of STD’s. Furthermore, it is important to regularly test yourself if you have had unsafe sexual contact or when symptoms persist.
