Stop Collecting ChatGPT Prompts — Go Deeper With One Instead

PROMPT ENGINEERING

Because chasing a perfect prompt is a waste of time.

I saved hundreds of writing prompts, brainstorming prompts, and productivity prompts, yet I was never delighted with the results.

Because everywhere on the internet, I listened to people saying you need a specific prompt every time to get the perfect result.

I was convinced that mastery meant collecting prompts.

After I started noticing how so-called prompt strategists and “pro masters” were selling their prompts on social media, claiming they had the secret to perfect answers and making money.

Then one day, I read a line from Cal Newport’s Deep Work:

If you don’t produce, you won’t thrive — no matter how skilled or talented you are.

I thought about it for a while and then concluded that:

Depth matters more than quantity.

I applied it to prompting.

Before this, I was using ChatGPT like a shortcut. It never helped to think and understand what I don’t know.
