Elon’s ego is writing checks that his company now has to cash. “Move fast and break things” was the siren song of the early Internet years, when we were only dealing with social media.
See where that’s gotten us?
Now, we’re putting AI in things that can actually break people’s necks and that mentality has to change.
Cosmetics companies are so gun-shy that some still insist on smearing lipstick into bunnies eyes to ensure it doesn’t burn some Botoxed Barbie who might sue them senseless.
But Musk, Altman and their billionaire tech-bro buddies are pushing AI-based products on the public knowing they can, and probably will, kill people.
How can they not be liable for that bullshit?
Well, lawyers and lobbyists have protected those companies pretty well, up until now. But I sense the tide is turning and none too soon.
