Today, July 19th, 2024, a large number of Windows users experienced the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error. The issue seems to be related to a faulty update from the cybersecurity software company Crowdstrike.
The outage caused widespread disruption, affecting various sectors including airlines, banks, and government offices. Many airlines could not proceed the ticket selling, unable to generate boarding passes. For some time, it looked like we went backwards of 30 years or so. Many users reported their computers getting stuck in a restart loop as it was continuously rebooting. Crowdstrike has acknowledged the issue and reverted the problematic update.
