Reason why your writing is ignored
I can’t count how many times I see and skip Medium posts that start with the same boring line. You’ve seen them too and probably ignored them.
The problem isn’t ChatGPT itself. It’s how you use it, especially at the start of an article.
I learned that,
Readers don’t forgive a boring start.
Why Most Writers Lose Readers in the First Line
Look at these first sentences you’ve read a thousand times:
- We all know how important […] is…
- In today’s world, […] matters more than ever…
- According to the dictionary, […] means…
- It’s no surprise that […]…
- Throughout history, people have always…
When your eyes catch one of these sentences, your brain predicts the rest of the piece.
When we already know where something is going, we don’t pay attention.
That’s not because readers have “short attention spans”; it’s because their attention is selective. They won’t invest time unless they guess originality.
