Same happened today with Clair Obscur. Saw the hype this year. People saying it’s gonna be game of the year. I like RPGs.
But again, I boot it up, load in, and I see this very bland looking character I’m controlling in some brownish environment and I’m again like: this looks like shit.
Am I really that shallow that I won’t give games a chance, just because I can’t get over the way they look or do more of you feel that way. Do you push through it, or is it something you are never able to shake?
PS. For the record. I don’t hate pixel games. I still play plenty of retry games or some of the newer, retro inspired graphically, games. It’s just with Stardew….. it’s just really ugly sprite work. Same with terraria. And Clair, I just don’t like the style. When the first character I control looks THAT boring, I dip out.
EDIT:
Right, so I’ve noticed in this short amount of time that if I post some midnight ramblings, or thoughts I’ve had after closing down Clair Obscur, and getting a little sad/disappointed that I didn’t have the will to try it after seeing how it looked, I apparently am either having mental problems or am rage baiting.
Was just hoping to bounce off some of your takes and maybe give me some angles in which I could overcome this apparent “disability”. Because I’m thinking it’s part of me expecting too much of things after I hear it read glowing reviews on things. ( this isn’t just with games. I tend to do this allot and also a lot it always turns into disappointment)
I’ve learned that I should not write down my opinions on this subreddit anymore.
