Tyler Perry’s Ruth and Boaz Movie Review
The biblical story of Ruth is one packed with pain, hurt, disappointment, making hard decisions and an endless journey to the fulfillment of purpose. The story further showcases the willpower to stay and stand in the face of life challenges.
The Ruth and Boaz movie is a contemporary re-interpretation of the biblical love story between Ruth and Boaz.
After choosing to turn down a promising record deal, Ruth finds herself entangled in a deadly act of revenge.
Upon stumbling on the trailer, I was gassed. I wanted to see the new perspective that Tyler Perry was introducing into the famous Ruth and Boaz’s story.
The movie, Ruth and Boaz, directed by Alanna Brown and co-produced by DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry, has an Infusion of modernity with the classic bible story.
The movie started out with two ladies, Ruth and Breana, performing at a stage, and you could see the unpleasantness, fear and timidity on Ruth.
In the crowd, you’ll find Ruth’s partner, Marlon and his parents(Naomi and Eli) cheering her, but Marlon’s mom had her reservations towards Ruth.
Fast forward to a later time, Ruth decided to opt out of the contractual agreement she had with her manager, Syrus, who had assisted her with monetary gifts in the past. This rancour led to threats and, fast forward to later, Ruth received a call and, on getting to the hospital, she discovered her fiancé and his father were involved in an accident which was later traced back to her manager, Syrus.
Left with Nothing, Naomi decided to pack up her bags and leave for Tennessee. Ruth, upon hearing that, decided to join Naomi, even though Naomi discouraged her; she remained resolute as she felt strongly that she should move with Naomi.
They got to Tennessee in Naomi’s old house, filled with a buildup of dirt and, undaunted, Ruth dusted herself up and decided to join the general farm labourers whom she had seen. She was opportuned to work at the grape farm of a man called Boaz, Bo, as popularly called by the workers, was a handsome young man who loved the lord and was down to earth.
Boaz took notice of Ruth and grew fond of her.
Ruth’s past with her manager, Syrus, started to catch up with her, and as time went by, she started getting numerous death threats from Syrus.
On the other hand, Ruth and Boaz decided to get along, and despite numerous attempts on the life of Ruth, Naomi and even the destruction of Boaz’s wine factory by Syrus, they got together and got married.
Syrus was arrested when he tried to forcibly take Ruth away after making an attempt on the life of Naomi.
Something spectacular happened after Syrus set Boaz’s wine factory on fire.
Some wines that had been stored away for a wine award were thought to be lost and destroyed in the fire. Boaz believed they had been ruined, but Ruth encouraged him to try them. Surprisingly, the wines affected by the fire turned out to be even better than expected.
Talk of in the pressing, in the furnace of fire, you’re making new wine.
This only goes to reiterate that Men are made in the furnace of fire and affliction.
Whatever your story is, you can thrive again, you can stand again.
Ruth, who was a laborer at the farm, became co-owner of the farm. This tells you that stories can change.
Destiny will align!!!
