Unpopular opinion: I appreciate the frequent em-dashs and antitheses that ChatGPT uses, because it makes its use identifiable.

Whether this literary style is a quirk, or a deliberately-added "tag" of sorts designed to make its presence known, I think it's useful.

Thanks to this peculiarity, a teacher who is familiar with how ChatGPT conveys ideas through its grammar and sentence construction could more easily catch cheating students.

Yes, I know many users find it irritating or frustratingly trite, but I compare it to the stinking chemical that's added to propane gas to detect leaks. No one wants to smell it, but you would really regret if it weren't there.

Using em-dashes is not unique to AI. It is the frequency and specific literary context in which the em-dash is used that can make it attributable to AI
