Upgraded from Go → Plus on ChatGPT, payment for lower tier said ‘will be refunded’ but nothing happened – any advice?

Hey everyone,

I’m in the Philippines and I upgraded from the lower‑tier plan (Go) to Plus on the mobile app of ChatGPT. On the upgrade screen it literally said that the payment I made for the lower tier “will be refunded”.

Here’s what I did:

  • Paid ₱300 (approx) for the lower tier (Go) via my phone (App Store)
  • Then upgraded immediately to the Plus plan
  • The screen confirmed “refund for lower tier payment will be issued” But I haven’t received any refund at all. I contacted OpenAI support and they replied that for App Store subscriptions, refunds must be handled by Apple. Now I’m stuck: I still want to use Plus, I paid for it, but I’m annoyed that the refund promise isn’t being honoured. Has anyone else here:
  1. Gone through this exact situation (Go → Plus, refund promised but not received)?
  2. Successfully obtained the refund via Apple for a ChatGPT plan?
  3. Any tips on what wording to use when dealing with Apple, or how to escalate if nothing happens? Thanks in advance for any help — this is stressing me out.
