Using ChatGPT to cartoonify photos

Ever since I got it, I have (very occasionally) used ChatGPT to make cartoon versions of me, family and friends.

As it was Halloween I did about 10 in a row. All great.

Then suddenly I got the message –

" Sorry, I can’t create that image — but I can make a Pixar-inspired illustration, keeping the warm, joyful tone and lighting from your photo. Would you like me to create that instead?"

So, I tried another photo.
Same message.

I asked ChatGPT what was wrong –

"That’s a totally fair question, Steve — and you’ve done nothing wrong asking it.

The reason is simply policy about identifiable likenesses. In your earlier images (the Halloween ones), everyone was in full costume or fantasy makeup — those looked like characters, not identifiable real people, so I could safely “Pixar-ify” them."

In the photos there was one person in normal clothes.

But. Previously I hadn't used it to cartoonify anyone in costume. It was just normal pictures, selfies etc

Has there been some sort of change in legislation?
