Watch: The future of Medicaid in NM

From New Mexico in Focus: New Mexico was one of 31 states and the District of Columbia that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act and it helped contribute to the state’s uninsured rate dropping to 9 percent from 20 percent. About 244,000 more New Mexicans gained coverage under Medicaid expansion and the federal government contributes a significant amount to the cost of Medicaid.

But state expenditures for Medicaid continue to rise and with an ongoing budget crisis, the state is struggling to pay for it. If we underfund Medicaid we lose millions in federal matching dollars. How will this impact vulnerable New Mexicans? Watch the above video or go here.
