Yes, movies are mixed for theaters. But if that were totally to blame then you’d constantly have to turn the volume on your headphones up and down when watching those same movies too, and you don’t.

Shrill ultra thin tv speakers and bass-y sound bars seem to be getting off the hook in these conversations.
