It got me thinking. what movie where X character/s where suppose to be one age, but the real life ages of the actors just took you out of the fantasy?
To me it was "Drop Dead Gorgeous" where Kirstie Alley and Sam McMurry where only suppose to be in their mid-30s with their characters (Gladys and Lester Leeman) but both actors where most certainly looking like in their late 40s at time of filming. (Ain't even gonna talk about Denise Richards here! Hahaha)
Since won of the plot points was Gladys was crazy enough to kill for her daughter to win this beauty pageant – and the backstory of Gladys winning the same pageant 18 years ago. One can easily infer she was pregnant with her High School Senior daughter (or got pregnant really soon after) and thus ruined her chances of progressing further in the beauty pageant circuit. Something that kinda just felt 'lost' with both parents looking like they had their daughter at 30.
Then again, Sigourney Weaver was the directors initial want for the role of Gladys, so I guess the hyper-reality of the movie just overtook that aspect, and while I respect that, it still has always bugged me.
