What movies really *should* get a remake?

(Disclaimer: I enjoy a good remake or retelling of a story—maybe it's the theater kid in me—but if remakes aren't for you, this question won't be either.)

Love Actually used to be on my holiday to-watch list, but over the years it's lost it's luster a bit; Knightley being only 17 during filming puts a bit of a dent in her storyline, putting Emma Thompson in prosthetics to make her larger feels odd now, not to mention all the actual fat jokes, problematic power dynamics, and other weirdness that run through the different stories. It's still such a happy, clever holiday movie, though, and I was thinking today that I'd love to see someone talented and caring give the same concept and characters another go.

Of course, thinking of movies that aged poorly always brings up 16 Candles, which I loved when I discovered it in high school but…boy howdy, times have changed. On the other hand, it is fundamentally a great teen comedy, and one I think really would be worth a revisiting.

Both films have subplots that range from cringe to outright awful today, but it wouldn't take much to sanely update them without affecting the main story. They're also both effects free and dialogue heavy, so it would be easy enough to keep the feel of the originals.

Any other movies that are worth trying again?
