You're locked into the newest super hero blockbuster, inside a snugly warm hobbit hole, or perhaps peering through your fingers at someone having a supernaturally horrendous evening.
Then, it happens. Something so absurd that has absolutely nothing to do with the premise of what you're watching shapes you out of it.
I like to use Bird Box as an example. Julia Robert's manages to take her kids through hell and fights off monsters wearing blinds the whole time, and towards the end of the movie, she finds a Poptart and gives it to her kids, telling them, "You see? That's what a strawberry tastes like."
NOPE
We were getting ready to throw out the whole tv. Got behind the whole premise of monsters that make you crazy upon seeing them, but we just couldn't buy the flavor of the gooey, sugar-laden filling of a toaster pasty being fenced off as a strawberry.
So what petty thing broke your suspension of disbelief in a movie?
