Which use cases fascinate older people the most?

My dad will be turning 80 soon. He likes being up to date with modern technology. Lately, he asked me to show him more “about all the AI stuff”.

I showed him a few examples, and this was his feedback.

  • Conversation with ChatGPT: he was totally unimpressed “why would I want to do that”
  • Search with ChatGPT: “this is just fancy Google”
  • Unimpressed with image generation “this is just like Photoshop but you control it differently”
  • Unimpressed with generating music, as he assumed that this is how music is being made anyways today
  • Unimpressed with drafting email “you need to proof read it anyway and by the time you’re done you could write it yourself”
  • However: he really liked ChatGPT being able to translate texts to almost all languages (he didn’t know about Deepl)
  • He was really fascinated by ChatGPT simplifying complex topics, taking Wikipedia as a starting point, or vice versa, expanding on topics that he is knowledgeable about

I feel like I’m missing something in the examples I’m showing him.

What are everyday AI use cases that older people may like?
