Why can’t Google’s own products work together?

This is a rant mostly, but also a request for help.

I'm kinda just irritated and unimpressed with Google's phone assistants. I used to use the Google assistant to read my Google notes to me out loud sometimes prior to Gemini. It's very useful to me when I needed to fill myself in on something before I drive etc. I used it for work a lot, I'll copy and paste important things from multiple sources into a note, and then have the assistant read it to me when I start driving to the site I'm working at.

Maybe there's better ways to do it, but I like it this way. It was great.

I even used to use it at the store with earbuds to read my shopping list to me as I'm walking through the aisles. Really helpful stuff for me personally that gets distracted easily.

It hasn't worked for quite some time now. If I'm looking at a note and I ask it to read aloud, Google assistant and Gemini both fail to read it. It seems they are only able to read web pages now, which is super useless to me.
I don't want to have to fully enable an entire screen reader just to read my notes. I feel that Google's devs are so incompetent, like how can your own ai be unable to read a page of text from you own notes app? I mean honestly, that's pathetic from such a massive giant of a tech company.

If anyone knows if there's a workaround to get these assistants to read my notes I would appreciate it. I'm sorry this is a rant but I'm just so sick of ai, it hardly improves anything with a phone.
