Console wars are dumb and they really don’t mean anything anymore. BUT in a very surprising turn of fate I noticed that Xbox won 2 awards at The Game Awards (Doom: Dark Ages for Accessibility and South of Midnight for Games for Impact) while PlayStation won 1 award (Last of Us Season 2 for Best Adaption). And that’s it for both of them.
Playstation gets nominated 19 times at TGA 2025 thanks mostly to Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei (and neither get a win) and only walks away with the 1 award. Xbox gets nominated only 5 times at TGA 2025 and gets 2 awards. Kepler’s slaughter with Expedition 33 ensured almost no publisher walked away with even 2 awards except for Nintendo and Xbox.
Obviously PlayStation’s lineup was overall much stronger critically than Xbox’s this year but still. Xbox beating PlayStation in awards doesn’t happen often at TGA; although they did manage to do that in at least 2021 and 2023. Just wanted to point this out even if it literally means almost nothing
