Microsoft Tells Windows 11 Users to Ignore New Certificate Error After July Update

Microsoft has once again asked Windows 11 users to disregard a fresh wave of alarming system errors — this time tied to CertificateServicesClient (CertEnroll) after the July 2025 non-security preview update. The error, which appears in Event Viewer on every reboot, comes with an Error ID 57 warning about a failed cryptographic provider. Microsoft says the message is misleading and not a sign of any functional problem.

The guidance extends to Windows 11 24H2 devices and follows a pattern: over the past few months, Microsoft has had to clarify that certain system-level error messages are cosmetic rather than critical.

What’s new in this case

After installing the July 2025 Windows non-security preview update (KB5062660) — or later cumulative updates, including the August 2025 security update — some users are seeing the following log entry in Event Viewer:

“The ‘Microsoft Pluton Cryptographic Provider’ provider was not loaded
